Our
Faculty
Cathy Cohen, LMT
Cathy holds a B.A. in Biology from George Mason University and
graduated from Shaw Myotherapy Institute. She has a certification
in Trigger Point Myotherapy. Cathy is a Licensed Massage Therapist
and maintains a private practice specializing in chronic pain. This
gifted instructor teaches several Allied Modalities for the
Academy, as well as being a Massage Instructor substitute.
Linda Kilcullen, MS, LMT, FS
Linda is our evening Anatomy and Physiology Instructor.
She holds a Master of Science Degree in Natural Health from Clayton
College in Alabama. Among her other achievements is an Associate of
Arts degree from Manatee Community College in Bradenton, FL., and
former teaching experience at the University of NY in Fredonia, NY.
Presently, in addition to teaching, she practices at NEW HOPE in
Port Charlotte, FL., specializing in craniosacrial therapy, hot
stone therapy, reflexology and treatments of essential oil body
exfoliation and detoxification body wraps. Linda is an active
member of NCBTM & FSMTA and is Licensed in the State of Florida
as both a Facial Specialist and a Massage Therapist.
Terry Lowder, BS, LMT, NCTMB
Terry teaches both Massage and Anatomy and Physiology for the
Academy. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Math Education and is
currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program in Holistic
Nutrition at Clayton College. Terry has been a Licensed Massage
Therapist since 1999 and has received advanced training in
Myofascial Release, Cranio Sacral Therapy, ETPS Neuropathic Therapy
and Neuromuscular Therapy.
Terry is the co-founder and President of Therapeutic Lifestyle
Choices, Inc., where he serves as a health coach and workshop
facilitator. He also operates a very successful private massage
practice specializing in debilitating illnesses and disease
conditions with an emphasis on fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue,
multiple sclerosis, diabetes and arthritis. His clients also
benefit from his extensive education in nutrition. Terry's daily
real world practice of massage brings a unique perspective to his
classroom, for which his students are most grateful.
Linda MacKenzie, FS
Linda is our evening Skin Care Instructor and also serves as one of
the Directors of our Skin Care Student Clinic. She has had
extensive training in cosmetology and has also worked as both a
Dental Assistant and X-ray Technician. In addition to her classroom
and clinic duties, she occasionally finds time to practice as a
Facial Specialist in a local spa. Linda says she has discovered her
true passion is the classroom.
Robert Mimmo, LMT
Bobby is a night Massage and Anatomy and Physiology Instructor for
the Academy. He relocated to Southwest Florida from Massachusetts,
where he attended Bunker Hill Community College. Bobby received his
massage training from Florida Academy of Massage & Skin Care
and was Valedictorian of his class. He went on to work as an LMT
for the prestigious South Seas Plantation Resort on Captiva Island
and then set up and ran a Massage Therapy Salon at Madden's Resort
in Brainard, Minnesota. Bobby also has been a Hypnotherapist since
1982 and a certified Hypnotherapy Instructor since '93. He has had
additional training in Sports Massage and performed volunteer work
with the 1996 British Track and Field Olympic Team. This gifted
instructor brings great enthusiasm and intensity to the classroom
and to his extensive private practice.
William M. Nelson, LMT, CAT
Bill teaches the Academy's day Anatomy & Physiology course as
well as our Junior Massage class. He holds an Associate of Science
degree, a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree
from the University of Rhode Island. He has had a life long
interest in body building, gymnastics, martial arts, weight lifting
and bicycle racing and is a trained ballet dancer. Bill is a
Licensed Massage Therapist, an ISSA Certified Personal Fitness
Trainer and a Certified Personal Trainer-Instructor. Bill maintains
a private massage practice and works on-call in massage
establishments.
Vivian Phillips, AA, FS, LMT
Vivian is licensed by the State of Florida as a Facial
Specialist and a Nail Technician, as well as a Massage Therapist.
She holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Education from Edison
Community College and is certified as a substitute teacher (K-12)
by the Lee County School Board. Vivian has managed a skin care
salon, managed the cosmetics counter at Burdines, owner and
operated a Salon providing skin care, massage and nail technician
services as well as having taught a Skin Care Program in the past.
Vivian is our evening Instructor for Skin Care and brings her many
talents to the classroom.
Guest Instructors
Florida Academy of Massage & Skin Care also brings in numerous
guest instructors to present the Allied Modality which is their
particular specialty and passion.
