Questions and answers about our
Massage and Skin Care school
If you have a question not on our list, please contact us.
Is your school well established?
FAMSC was founded in 1992 and has trained several thousand
students, including students from 41 states. Our graduates are on
staff at every area upscale spa, clinic, medical office and
rehabilitation center.
Is your school regulated?
We are licensed by Florida Department of Education;
Commission for Independent Education. In addition, our Massage
Therapy program is approved by the Department of Health, Board of
Massage Therapy and our Skin Care program is approved by the
Department of Business & Professional Regulation, Board of
Cosmetology.
How qualified are your instructors?
Our instructors are highly qualified. More importantly for our
students, most of our instructors maintain their own private
practices and several are business entrepreneurs. This means you
get "real life" training rather than just "classroom book
learning". In addition, our Administrative Staff is well qualified
and has many years of experience in the field. Both our Instructors
and Administrative Staff attend additional educational workshops
throughout the year.
How much does it cost to complete the training to become
a Licensed Massage Therapist?
$5375 - everything included!
How much does it cost to complete the training to become
a Skin Care professional?
$4345 - everything included!
Do you offer different methods of
payment?
Yes - we offer several flexible payment plans for both courses of
study. Our Admissions Director will be happy to discuss these plans
with you.
How long will it take to become trained?
As little as 10 weeks for Skin Care and 17 weeks for Massage
Therapy.
I cannot attend classes during the day, as I already
have a full time job - what can I do?
We understand the demands of life. That is why we offer full or
part time programs - both day and evening - to fit your
schedule.
Am I too young? Am I too old?
Applicants must be 16 years of age for Skin Care or 18 years of age
for Massage Therapy. There is no upper age limit, making it an
ideal career for people of all ages.
What educational qualifications do I
need?
Applicants must be a high school graduate or have an equivalency
certificate.
Can I transfer from another school?
Yes - our catalog will give you all the details.
I have seen similar courses offered by other schools. They
are much more expensive and take much longer to complete. Does this
mean they offer better training?
Definitely NOT - Our courses and training processes have been
adapted over the last fourteen years to ensure that students are
trained to the highest level in the shortest possible time. We have
a long list of very successful graduates.
Do I take a State Board exam?
Yes - for Massage Therapy.
No - for Skin Care - you receive your State license with just our
Diploma.
Am I guaranteed to pass my exam?
No - the course needs dedication and study - but with our proven
methods, our graduates rarely have problems.
Once I graduate - how will I find work?
We have a FULL TIME Director of Placement, who because of carefully
tended contacts with spas, Chiropractors, clinics, Medical Doctors,
hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, etc., has a waiting list of area
Employers looking for graduates, offering positions we don't have
enough graduates to fill.
Do you provide living accommodation on
campus?
No. However, we can provide information to assist you in locating
suitable housing.
Once I have qualified, how do I stay up to date with
current methods & practices?
We offer Continuing Education Courses, to ensure you stay updated
on all the latest techniques and innovations.
Can I visit the school to see your
facilities?
Of course you can - we encourage prospective students to visit our
school. And every Thursday is "Open House". Or simply call to
schedule an appointment at a time convenient for you Monday through
Friday.
Can I bring a friend or family member with
me?
Of course - we welcome anyone who wants to help you choose the best
possible career and school.
How often do you start new classes?
New classes start approximately every 8 weeks for Massage Therapy,
and approximately every 5 weeks for Skin Care.
If I visit you, will any sales pressure be put on me to
make an immediate decision?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!! You will be treated with the utmost respect. And,
for your information, many of our enrollments are as a result of
recommendations from former students. We encourage prospective
students to take their time; to make comparisons with other
programs - we know when you do your investigations, we'll come out
just fine.
What about the "small print"?
We don't hide facts! We publish a 24 page catalog that gives you
all the detail you will need - without "fine print". We are happy
to e-mail or "snail" mail you a copy today. Just
ask!
There are many options open to me - why should I choose
